The Chairman Bassirou Diomaye Faye today presided over the opening ceremony of the 15th edition of the Biennial of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, a major event promoting culture in general and the art market in particular.

The theme of this year's edition, "The wake, l'éveil, le sillage, xàll wiis a call to reflect on contemporary issues, particularly environmental and social ones.

In his speech, the Head of State expressed his satisfaction at seeing the cultural community again, and stressed the importance of this event, which will run until December 7, 2024. Visit Chairman Faye praised the international presence of the artists and paid tribute to the distinguished creators, while evoking the memories of the Biennale's pioneers.
