Thanks to the TikTok that Oumar Thiam met Moustapha Dramé. On his account, the marabout shared prayers and clairvoyance sessions, capturing the attention of many people, including Oumar Thiamseduced by his alleged mystical talents. They quickly formed a bond, communicating frequently, until the marabout offered his mystical services to Thiam.
When the latter told him about his travel plans, Moustapha Dramé promised to put him in touch with a contact who could help him obtain the necessary papers. At the same time, he offered to perform mystical work to facilitate the process. Without hesitation, Oumar Thiam first gave him 1.225 million FCfa, according to information reported by The Observer.
Subsequently, the marabout asked for a further 140,000 FCFA, claiming that he had to buy 70 copies of the Holy Koran to offer as an offering. But this was not enough. Shortly afterwards, Dramé came back asking for even more money, claiming that the process was complicated. All in all, Oumar Thiam ended up giving him 4.250 million FCfa. But despite all this money, the long-awaited visa never arrived. Out of patience, Thiam finally decided to file a complaint, accusing Moustapha Dramé and charlatanism.
Defendant admits part of the facts
Facing the court, Moustapha Dramé acknowledged having received the sum of 4.250 million FCfa, but claims to have transferred it to a certain Abdoulaye Mbowwho he presented as the person in charge of travel arrangements. However, as the prosecutor pointed out, no proof of the existence of this friend was provided by the defendant.
The public prosecutor requested a sentence of two years' imprisonment. Moustapha Dramé. To date, he has repaid 2.225 million FCfa to Oumar Thiambut the latter is still claiming the remaining sum. The defense lawyer, for his part, pleaded for his client's acquittal. The Koranic master's fate will be decided on October 16, the day of deliberation.
