The Ministry of the Interior and Public Safety has just announced a restrictive measure concerning inter-regional traffic for the weekend of the general election. This temporary ban, which covers the whole of Senegal, will be in effect from midnight on Saturday November 16 until Sunday November 17 at midnight.
The measure, which is justified on security grounds, nevertheless provides for exceptions for certain categories of vehicle. Security forces, emergency services and ambulances, for example, will continue to be able to move freely between regions.
Special dispensations may be granted on a case-by-case basis, either directly by the Minister of the Interioror by regional governors.
The Ministry reminds all offenders that they are subject to the penalties laid down by law.
This provision is part of the security measures for the legislative elections scheduled for this weekend.
