Following his visit to the mausoleum of Moustapha Kemal Atatürk, founding father of the Turkish Republic, His Excellency the President Bassirou Diomaye Faye was welcomed with honors at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, where he met President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a face-to-face meeting.
The two leaders signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a high-level Strategic Council, aimed at doubling the volume of trade between the two countries. Senegal and Türkiye, increasing from 500 million to 1 billion dollars over the next few years. This agreement marks a milestone in bilateral cooperation, notably in the agriculture, energy, higher education and defense sectors.
Memorandums of understanding were also signed by the ministers Senegalese and their Turkish counterparts, covering priority areas such as agricultural mechanization, energy and hydrocarbons, urban planning and education, illustrating the desire of both countries to broaden and intensify their partnership.
The day ended with statements by the two heads of state and a dinner hosted by the Turkish presidential couple in honor of President Faye and the First Lady, a symbol of the sincere friendship and shared ambitions between Senegal and Turkey.
