Senegal is counting its presidential votes after the first round of an election that will decide between continuity and perhaps radical change after three years of turmoil and political crisis.
Poll-by-poll results give lead to main opposition candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye before that of power, Amadou Bafar ahead of the 15 other competitors.
At 9.20pm, the Pastef candidate currently has 56.7% of the vote and Amadou Ba of the Benno bokk yaakaar (Bby) coalition has 31.4%, according to statistician Alphonse Thiakane on Rfm.
Then come Khalifa Sall 4%, Aliou Mamadou Dia 3 % and Idrissa Seck 1 %, according to the statistician, who promises to give more details later in the evening.
